CENTRAL LIBRARY

Panskura Banamali College Central Library was started functioning along with the commencement of degree classes in the year 1961. the college was founded in Dec. 1960 and eventually named after its principal donor Late Banamali Khatua. The college was starte with B.A. & B.Sc degree classes and the number of users served by the college library were also very meager. Day after day the number of departments were increased and needs of the users were increased. At present the number of Honors and Pass classes are 26 including M.Sc, in Computer Science, Microbiology, Electronics, Bio-technology, Computer Science, BCA, BED, & BPED and all the Humanities Groups.

AREA OF BUILDING

Stack Room	1.  45ft. x 25ft. = 1125sq. ft. 2.  45ft. x 8ft.  = 360sq. ft. Total  = 1485aq. ft.
Reading Room	65ft. x 25ft. = 1625sq.ft.
Store Room	40ft. x 25ft. = 1000sq.ft. Total  = 4110aq. ft.

No of floors and rooms -  The college library is housed in the North-West 1st floor of the college building. Two rooms are provided for stack room, one room is provided for reading room and one room is provided for store room.

LIBRARY WORKING HOURS –

The college library functions from 7-30 a.m. to 6 p.m

Morning Shift	7-30a.m. to 10a.m.
Day Shift	10-30a.m to 4-30p.m.
Evening Shift	2p.m. to 6p.m.

(Monday to Saturday, excluding Sunday and other college holiday)

Recently college authority have installed CDS ISIS software( Windows version). The retrospective conversion of library holdings is going on with the help of this software. The users now have to access it. The library has so far created database of near about 42,000 books. At present internet and e-mail facilities are available for library users (teachers, non-teaching staff and student).
